American Idol Live Blog

David Cook (25 – Missouri)

Exemplary introduction video. Jim Lampley is amazing. The boxing premise was appropriate. His commencement is exquisite. His vocals are understated. Yet, they are brilliant. His scream was random. His performance improves. His confidence is mesmerizing. Throughout this competition, he has improved. His conclusion is spectacular. Outstanding performance.

His background is gargantuan. Blood red? Pulsating? Seriously? His commencement is satisfactory. Unfortunately, I abhor this persona. The hard rock and guitar. This is not 1987. You are not White Snake. His performance slightly improves. The lyrics are incredible. However, his performance is average. The hair band reincarnation will cost him.

His appearance is bizarre. Slower vocals? Tie? Black light? He is flailing. His commencement is shaky and unspectacular. Holding the notes is ridiculous. His emotion is contrived. His performance feels false. Simon is correct. He was two down. The aforesaid was obvious. He appeared desperate. Wretched performance.

David Archuleta (17 – California)

His commencement is spectacular. His emotion transcends the selection. He channels both Elton John and George Michael. His performance improves. His vocals are stellar. This song illustrates his brilliance. Perfect performance.

His commencement is stellar. He is not perfect. He appears slightly nervous. However, his vocals overcome. His emotion and excitement are palpable. His performance is improving. His song choice was outstanding. The lyrics are unspectacular. With that stated, his personality improved the endeavor. Great performance.

Perfect selection. “Imagine” is an exquisite conclusion. Once again, the solo guitar is poignant. His emotion is captivating. He channels John Lennon. His passion and sincerity are evident. His vocals are poetry. This performance mirrored his previous. He wins on every card. He is the American Idol.

American Idol (During Hospitalization)

Final Four

On May 7, America eliminated Jason Castro. His exodus was overdue. Castro’s appearance was insipid. His persona was irritating. His talent was imaginary. Castro merited prior elimination.

Final Three

On May 14, America eliminated Syesha Mercado. Her exodus was predictable. David Archuletta and David Cook are this season’s finalists. Mercado’s potential was maximized.

Survivor Micronesia (During Hospitalization)

Week Twelve

Following James’ exodus, Erik garnered immunity. Subsequently, Alexis, Cirie, Erik, and Natalie targeted Amanda. However, their plan collapsed. Amanda unveiled hidden immunity. Alexis was axed.

Week Thirteen

On May 8, Erik again garnered immunity. Unfortunately, he suffered manipulation. He transferred immunity. Natalie betrayed him. Via a 4-1 vote, Erik was eliminated.

Week Fourteen

Following Natalie’s elimination (3-1 vote), the final three balanced cylinders. Amanda garnered immunity. Pre-tribal council, Cirie implored retention. Predictably, Amanda and Parvati were unsympathetic. Via a 2-1 vote, Cirie was eliminated.

During the final council, Amanda and Parvati were excoriated. Thus, the vote was open. Parvati amassed five votes. Amanda accrued only three.

Overall, this season was excellent. Despite my reservations, the format was splendid. The casting was superb. Once again, Survivor stated the obvious. They are one of television’s finest. Human drama trumps all.
