Falwell: Icon & Rogue

Jerry Falwell was controversial. He was a political titan. He was a conservative advocate. He abhorred President Clinton. He consumed Jim Bakker. He sued Larry Flint. Falwell founded a church and a university. He was a televangelist. He was an agenda dictator. Falwell was equally loathed and beloved.

I reviled Falwell. I believed his ideology was dangerous. I believed his remarks were bigoted and repugnant. With that stated, I respected his power. No Republican assumed legitimacy sans Falwell. His blessing facilitated titanic support. Despite my opinion, the aforesaid is his legacy.
