Musharraf Pledges, Reneges

On Thursday, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf promised parliamentary elections. Allegedly, the vote will occur February 15. Musharraf’s decision is excellent. However, caution trumps excitement. The vote may never occur.

On Friday, Benazir Bhutto was placed under house arrest. The aforesaid is disturbing. Clearly, Musharraf has not relented. He still opposes democracy. Obvious question… how will the international community respond?
