Twelfth Hope

On Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs traded Trent Green to the Miami Dolphins. As reciprocation, the Chiefs received a fifth round selection. Assuming Green excels, said selection will become fourth round.

During his career, Green has completed 2,143 of 3,527 passes for 26,963 yards with 157 touchdowns and 101 interceptions. During his Kansas City tenure, Green connected on 1,720 of 2,777 aerials for 21,459 yards with 108 touchdowns and 85 interceptions. Additionally, Green endured Washington and St. Louis stints.

Since Dan Marino, the Dolphins have sampled Daunte Culpepper, A.J. Feeley, Jay Fiedler, Gus Frerotte, Brian Griese, Joey Harrington, Damon Huard, Cleo Lemon, Ray Lucas, and Sage Rosenfels. Green arrives with unfulfilled promise. Is he Marino‘s successor or Miami’s twelfth failure?
