The MTV Movie Awards are peculiar. They pair valid adoration and fraternity humor. They feature glamorous celebrity, bizarre categories, and outrageous spoofs. The MTV Movie Awards are amateurish. Yet, they are coveted.

Sarah Silverman was an exemplary host. Additional highlights included Kevin James and Adam Sandler’s vignette, Silverman’s monologue and sketches, and Mike Myers’ acceptance speech.

Winners included Myers (MTV Generation), “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” (Best Movie), “Transformers” (Best Summer Movie You Haven’t Seen), Johnny Depp (Best Performance), Jack Nicholson (Best Villain), Sacha Baron Cohen (Best Comedic Performance), Jaden Smith (Best Breakthrough Performance), Will Ferrell & Cohen (Best Kiss), and Gerald Butler (Best Fight).
