Perfectly Imprecise… Tigers Score Championship

Their season was imperfect. LSU’s campaign was not Michelangelo’s David. Crisp, sharp lines were not present. LSU’s campaign was impressionistic. Peppered with searing colors and occasional brilliance.

On Monday, the LSU Tigers defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes 38-24. They garnered their second BCS national championship. They concluded a scattered season. Versus Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tulane, and Virginia Tech, the Tigers dominated. Versus Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Tennessee, the Tigers escaped. Versus Arkansas and Kentucky, the Tigers succumbed. Two, triple overtime losses which should have compromised them.

Critics will condemn the Tigers. Pundits will excoriate them. Ultimately, the truth is unequivocal. Critics can write. Pundits can scream. Yet, two words are mandatory… national champions.
