Citing high gas prices, Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND) said America should not bolster our strategic petroleum reserve. Temporarily, Dorgan’s proposal is generous. However, the SPR exists for national emergencies. What if America is attacked? What if a catastrophic hurricane occurs? $3.00 would be inconceivable.
