High school lineman heft is not an Iowa problem. The epidemic is national. Seeking the elusive college scholarship, teenagers exchange safety for snacking. They obtain their examples from Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately, the vast majority never block beyond their senior season.

Initially, HBO’s Real Sports reported this plague. Their story, which this study confirmed, was another example of their journalistic excellence. Bryant Gumbel’s program is truly exceptional.
