Engaged Showcases Promise

Despite a difficult subject, MTV’s Engaged and Underaged has potential. Featuring assorted couples, the program depicts the conception and realization of a wedding. Engaged also chronicles the tribulations of the couple, their families, and their circumstances.

Initially, Engaged profiled David and Lauren. Both were virgins as per their faith and David is the classic mother’s son. He even described his honeymoon bed to her. The show’s depiction of their dynamic and parental skirmishes was outstanding. Engaged also provided the audience with enough of a back-story.

Engaged is not polished. The show is overly crammed. The show also included trivial behind the scenes moments. However, the show deals with a troubled institution. Given the nation’s divorce rate, Engaged presents relevant questions. Compared with Maui Fever, this is intriguing television.
