BOLT

In the men’s one hundred meters, Usain Bolt set the world record. Richard Thompson scored silver. Walter Dix bagged bronze. Bolt was remarkable. Exemplary sprinters are not unique. Icons emerge. Icons evaporate. Bolt’s brilliance is simplicity. His speed was calm. His technique was comfortable. Theoretically, this was a competition. However, Bolt’s evening was a coronation.
