Swimming: In the men’s fifty meter freestyle, Cesar Cielo Filho garnered gold. Amaury Leveaux scored silver. Alain Bernard bagged bronze. In the women’s eight hundred meter freestyle, Rebecca Adlington obliterated the world record. Alessia Filippi scored silver. Lotte Friis bagged bronze. Simply stated, Adlington and Cielo Filho wer spectacular.

Volleyball: Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers advanced 21-16, 21-23, 15-13. They were challenged. They struggled. Concerning the medal prospects, I am concerned.
