American Agony Dresses Softball’s Sendoff

On Thursday, Japan defeated the United States 3-1. In the third inning, Eri Yamada hammered a home run. In the fourth, Japan and the United States swapped scores. In the seventh, Japan utilized an error. They scored again. They garnered gold. Japan shocked America. They stunned softball. They traumatized an epitaph.

In the Olympics, America’s accomplishments were prodigious. Three consecutive gold medals. Twenty-two consecutive victories. Their overall record was 32-5. They outscored their opponents 175-21.

Catastrophes are not conclusions. Failures are not farewells. Calamities are not cherished. Serenity is not sour. Villains are not cheered. Heroes are not jeered. Today was a nightmare. Today was repulsive. They fairytale was annihilated, crushed, and razed. This is unacceptable. The International Olympic Committee must reverse themselves. Immediately, softball must be reinstated.
