The Egomaniacal Empire

Their tenor is different. Their fans exemplify this. Once, Boston Red Sox supporters were provincial, whining, narcissistic, chronic, complainers. They expected failure. They projected insecurity. For them, pessimism was reality. Then, they began winning.

On Sunday, the Red Sox garnered the 2007 World Series. Their nation celebrated. Four seasons. Two world championships. Suddenly, the petulant pessimists are vanished. Instead, Bostonians are arrogant. They are empirical. They are smug. The Atlanta Braves may be America’s franchise. The Red Sox own two hemispheres.

Polar opposites are disturbing. Formally, the Red Sox were fatalistic. Currently, they are fanatical. The Red Sox were a quirky treasure. Unfortunately, they have transformed. They are not adorable. They are not endearing. Certainly, they are not international. Simply stated, they have become their enemies. They are the New York Yankees equal. Spending, self-absorbed, and obnoxious.
