Craig Formally Resigns

On Saturday, Senator Larry Craig announced his resignation. Officially, he will depart September 30. Senator Craig’s resignation was the resolution of a nightmare. His actions were revolting. They were abhorrent and disgusting. Senator Craig betrayed his office and the public’s trust.

Concerning Craig’s Republican banishment, surprise has been expressed. I applaud our reaction. Craig was a pariah. He was an embarrassment. He could have jeopardized 2008. Thankfully, politics has two choices. Act or not act. Not acting would have been suicidal.
