LJ: Lucrative Justified?

On Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs retained Larry Johnson. Johnson signed a 6-year, $43 million contract. The pact includes a $7.5 signing bonus. “We met privately,” said Chiefs General Manager Carl Peterson. “I could see that he very, very much wanted to get on the field. He explained that to me, that he wanted to be out here with his teammates. I don't know if I've ever seen a guy sign his contract that fast. But he wanted to get out here today and get going.”

During his career, Johnson has logged 892 carries, 4,205 yards, and 47 touchdowns. Last season, Johnson recorded 416 carries, 1,789 yards, and 17 touchdowns. His totes set an NFL record.

Johnson is a both enigmatic and translucent. He is callous, insensitive, and unfriendly. He also disappears. During his Penn State tenure, he was absent versus Ohio State. Last season, the Colts silenced him. Johnson is a talented laborer. Will his performance equal the paycheck?
