California Diluted

California’s proposed spanking ban is ridiculous. It is asinine. Previously, I voiced my opposition. I was prepared to dismiss the ban and any “merits” as stupid.

On Monday, the Today Show interviewed California legislator and bill sponsor Sally Lieber. “Where we are on spanking is where we were on domestic violence twenty years ago,” she said.

Seriously, was spanking equated with domestic violence? This legislator is irrational. Spanking is a personal choice. I would never if I had children. However, the intent of spanking is discipline. Domestic violence is a societal plague. Domestic violence serves no purpose. The intent of domestic violence is to harm and maim. The act of a person, who is so insecure as to translate their inferiority into beating someone, cannot be compared with two whacks on a toddler.

Assemblywoman Lieber, your argument is irrational. Your argument also trivializes the suffering of all domestic violence victims. For this, you should be ashamed.
